This is a small and relatively unknown Quake 2 source port. Almost all the configuration is made by editing the config file, which is surely not the most comfortable way to do it.
There are not so much graphic extensions here: motion blur, decals, water waves and stencil buffer shadows. This port also supports High Resolution textures.

Installation instructions:

Download and unpack port files to the directory with Quake 2 game files (this was 'E:\games\Quake II' in my case).
Run'aq2.exe' once and then exit the game using 'Esc' button to generate the config file.
Open 'baseq2/aprconfig.cfg' from original game's directory. Set the following parameters to the following values:
set s_khz "48"
set gl_decals_max "4096"
set gl_decals_time "3000"
set gl_decals "1"
set gl_ext_max_anisotropy "16"
set gl_ext_texture_filter_anisotropic "1"
set gl_waterwaves "1"
set gl_shadows "2"
set gl_motionblur "1" (you'll possibly have to add this parameter to the list)
Run the 'aq2.exe' to start the game.

Actually it support high resolution textures and pics for hud. Set gl_replacewal 1 so it try to load high resolution ones with order png, tga, jpg. gl_replacepics 1 do the same for the hud images.

there is problem with chaos mod: bfg is exploding just after launch, and sometimes game crashes after picking exploding bow......
