DarkXL is a one of the most impressive projects I've seen, because this is not a simply hardware accelerated source port of Star Wars: Dark Forces game, but an attempt to completely reproduce the original product's functionality and a gameplay on an engine written from scratch. This build alreay supports in-game movies, menu dialogs. The buid 8 currently supports first 3 levels.
Please remember to check the projects original page first, because the newer versions of the DarkXL can rapidly appear on this stage of development.

Installation instructions:
- Download and unpack port files to the directory with original game files ('D:\Games\DARK' in my case)
- Open and edit 'DXL_Settings.txt' file. Change 'DForces' path to the original game's files path.
- Ensure to download and install the latest OpenAL driver (http://www.openal.org/downloads.html)
- Run 'DarkXL.exe' to start the game.
- Open 'Settings' from main game menu. Set 'Texture Filtering' to maximum, set the 'Video Resolution' supported by your hardware and adjust game controls.
- Start game from main menu by clicking 'Launch'.

I just wanted to mention that there is an issue with sky rendering on cards that don't support shader model 2 or better. On shader model 2 cards (Radeon 9800+, GeForceFX+) the sky renders correctly. This will be fixed.

As you can see in the later shots, the sky problem has been fixed.

Yep, I've tested it on both shader2-capable and legacy videocards - seems like everything is working fine.
