This is one of the best choices available for Duke3D. Full OpenGL support with ability to use 3D-models and High-Res textures. There is no need to manually configure these graphical extensions, as they are all available together in HRP Build.
Anyway, if you would like to try the JFDuke3D without High-Res features, use the instructions below.
1. Download and run jfduke3d-20051009-setup.exe to start JFDuke3D installation. You can install it to the default folder (“C:\Program files\jfDuke3D”), but I advise you to select a folder with original game (in my case it was “E:\games\duke3d\”).
2. Click Finish in the end of installation. GRP-Installer will run.
Select “Duke3d.grp” file from the list and click “Copy”. In my case GRP-Installer sometimes cannot find any suitable GRP files to use with JFDuke3D. That doesn't seem to make any problem though, because the port has been installed into game's directory, so it finds Duke3D resource file successfully.
3. After installation is finished, run “Setup.exe” from JFDuke3D folder.
4. Change the settings in "Music, Sound and Video" to maximum values supported by your hardware to achieve the best effect.
5. Set up control keys for mouse and keyboard in "Input Devices".
6. Now you can save the configuration and start the game from your start menu or by running duke3d.exe in program folder.
7. You can also want to tweak texture filtering settings using in-game menu to achieve the best visual result.
