There is another relatively good port for doom-engine based games (Doom 1/2, Heretic, Hexen, ...),rnhttp://vavoom-engine.com/ , I played Doom 1/2 through several times with it. It has almost full set of (crude frame-animated) models, high-res textures, and somewhat buggy graphics engine.

Thanks, I've been just planning to write about this port next; this seems to be one of the major source modifications for Doom games.

ZDoomGL is very VERY out of date, GZDoom is the far-superior OpenGL port of ZDoom. Also, while you have ZDoomGL on the list you dont have the actual ZDoom!

thank you, I've really forgotten about this one :) I would also appreciate any of the corrections and detailed information about the ports history and background.

Try GZscoredoom (www.scoredoom.com). Its GZDoom but with an added scoring system in the singleplayer game. It gets better: get the scoredoom addon for LOADs of new enemy types.
